Prayer Walking

June 12 6:00 pm  |  Garden Oaks Baptist Church

Garden Oaks Baptist Church, North Shepherd Drive, Houston, TX, USA

We will meet in the sanctuary at 6pm on Wednesday, June 12 for a quick devotional and time of worship. Then we will leave the church and prayer walk the neighborhood directly behind the church. We are going to pray for the peace and prosperity of the neighborhood that God has placed us in.

“Work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile.  Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare”- Jeremiah 29:7

Around 600 BC the people of God were taken away from their land and forced to live in the land of Babylon. Babylon was a pagan place that was filled with evil and idolatry. I would have assumed that God would tell his people to fight against Babylon in hopes of destroying it. Instead God commanded his people to pray for Babylon and work for the peace of the city they found themselves in.

You do not want to miss this. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and be ready at 6pm to do exactly what God told his people to do 2600 years ago as we pray to the Lord for the city we are in!
